Sarah worked with her colleagues on the commission to increase county staffing. When she entered office, she inherited 65% crisis staffing levels across the board. Today, those levels average 90%.
Sarah knows how important it is to value and support the PEOPLE who work for Sedgwick County. She spends time alongside them on the job to personally understand their needs.
These perspectives have shaped policies she's brought to the commission, from increasing pay and benefits for all employees – including the industry-leading 8 weeks of paid parental leave for BOTH parents – to significantly improved employee training and morale for stronger public safety and infrastructure services
Sarah has made it a priority to strengthen the vital public safety and infrastructure services we all count on, while making costs for all of us more affordable.
On the commission, Sarah cut the county mill levy property tax rate two years in a row for the lowest Sedgwick County mill levy in nearly 30 years
And she did so while ensuring financial stability and accountability for our county, earning us a rare AAA credit rating for the Sedgwick County government.
As your commissioner, Sarah has supported and spearheaded more than $200 million of new investment in Sedgwick County, bringing hundreds of new jobs to our community – the majority of them in our home, District 2.
